League for Pastoral Peoples and Endogenous Livestock Development

This website is dedicated to the pastoralists of the world and their itinerant spirit.

The League for Pastoral Peoples and Endogenous Livestock Development is an advocacy and support group for pastoralists who depend on common property resources. We work and conduct research with pastoral communities, primarily in India.  This website documents the challenges faced by pastoralists and facilitates networking among similar agencies.


LPP annual report 2006

LPP's annual report for 2006 is now available online.

The lead article, by LPP Project Coordinator Ilse Köhler-Rollefson, focuses on "Patents on animals: Preparing for Interlaken".

The First International Technical Conference on Animal Genetic Resources will be held on 1-7 September 2007 in Interlaken, Switzerland. LPP has been heavily involved in preparing for this conference, helping organize pastoralists and small-scale livestock keepers to ensure their voice is heard.
